About the role 

We are looking for a Principal Architect with leadership experience and a strong technical background to join the Platform department at Quinyx. Reporting to their Engineering Director, you will work alongside peers with the same goal as you: the continued improvement of their services and integrations into Quinyx. This position is a key role for Quinyx’s continued growth, and filling this role is a top priority for senior management.

As a Principal Architect, you will design and manage the structure of the APIs, and ensure a future-proof and seamless integration, functionality, and performance across software applications. You will work cross-functionally and closely collaborate with developers, product teams, and stakeholders to ensure APIs meet business and technical requirements, align with the organization’s overall architecture, and play an active role in technical decision-making. You’ll focus on setting the architectural future of the APIs, enabling easy integrations into Quinyx. 

What you’ll be doing

• Surveying the business and creating a Domain Model
• Design and develop scalable API solutions that are secure, efficient, and easy to use
• Ensure compliance with data protection regulations
• Set best practices, guidelines, tools, and standards for API development
• Work closely with DevOps teams to ensure smooth deployment
• Develop and maintain API testing strategies
• Build CI/CD pipelines and tooling for testing endpoints
• Monitor API usage, performance metrics, and scalability
• Manage API gateways and related infrastructure and costs
• Mentoring and supporting the software engineers

What you’ll bring to the team

To be successful in this role, you will have several years of experience working as a developer, architect, tech lead, or similar, with a hands-on approach. You are seasoned from many years of building and maintaining scalable architecture. You have achieved results by improving solutions and possess the ability to make strategy come alive by engaging and inspiring others. 

Requirements:

• 5+ years of experience in API design and development
• Cloud (AWS) experience
• Strong understanding of RESTful and SOAP APIs
• Proficiency in programming languages such as Java, Python, or Node.js

It is a merit if you have:

• Experience with API management tools and security protocols 
• Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices, and cloud platforms
• Experience with writing Lambda functions (and creating WebHooks)
• Experience with API testing frameworks
• Knowledge of data protection regulations like GDPR and data formats like JSON and XML

The WOW-factor

We are looking for someone who is well-versed in API design and development and has deep skills in AWS. Someone passionate about technical excellence and committed to delivering clean, high-quality, maintainable, and well-documented code. Also, proficiency in at least one of the following programming languages Java, Python, or Node.js is needed in this role.
