Our client is a venture capital-backed climate tech startup that aims to rewrite energy management for Europe’s mid-sized companies. The startup’s cutting-edge technology platform allows energy-intensive companies to leverage real-time market data combined with intelligent algorithms to create new revenue streams from ancillary service markets, automate energy optimization, and reduce carbon emissions. All without risking their core operations. 

The Role

As the CTO (co-founder), you will play a pivotal role in building a European category leader in the new energy domain. You will lead the engineering team and drive the development of cutting-edge energy solutions. Key responsibilities include setting the technical direction, ensuring scalability and reliability of the platform, and fostering a culture of innovation and excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and manage a team of talented engineers, providing mentorship and fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.
• Drive the architectural vision and technical strategy, ensuring alignment with business goals and industry best practices.
• Oversee the development and deployment of demand response and energy optimisation software, ensuring it meets the highest standards of quality and performance.
• Ensure the use of the right technologies for the right problems.
• Promote a devops culture, owning deployments and setting SLOs.
• Stay abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies, continuously seeking opportunities to innovate and improve the platform.

Qualifications:

• Proven experience in a senior engineering leadership role.
• Strong expertise in software development, with hands-on experience in Go, PostgreSQL, Docker, and related technologies.
• Demonstrated ability to lead and inspire engineering teams, driving a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
• Excellent problem-solving skills, with a focus on delivering scalable and reliable solutions.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
